Forming Tube is like Pottery

Over the years we have come across the assumption from many individuals who believe we simply “crush” tube in order to create a profile. However, there is a little more to it than that.

When customers or suppliers ask how we form our tube profiles, we tend to fall back on this analogy. The process of forming metal tube from one shape to another requires a similar mentality of a potter shaping a bowl out of clay. By taking extra care and time to ensure the finish product is structurally sound, we analyse our material’s properties and apply that knowledge to our manufacturing process to guarantee a uniform shape and finish across the whole length. This mirrors how a potter feels the clay in their hands whilst turning it, so they can gauge the softness of the clay and determine it’s limits when shaping. Much like how potters will continuously run over their newly formed pottery to remove imperfections and check the shape is flawless, once our tube has been formed we remove any imperfections ready for shipping.

Our point we’re trying to make? Our product is something we hold to a gold standard so we have developed an efficient manufacturing process and strict quality control. This approach makes our aim to take the necessary time and steps to ensure each tube we form is perfect.
